Chalmette Refining

An Important Hurricane Ida Recovery Update to our Community Partners

from Chalmette Refining Manager, Steve Krynski

Dear Community Partners:

As we have been reporting to you the past few weeks, we preemptively shut down the refinery due to Hurricane Ida, and subsequently lost power.  We are currently in the process of restoring operations. Due to the restart process you may have noticed odors in the area.  We apologize for any inconvenience and are working diligently to control these odors.  In an abundance of caution, we have also been conducting community air monitoring and there are no community impacts other than odors.

Again, we apologize for the odors.  We will continue taking steps to minimize the impact of the start-up process on our neighbors.

Thank you and stay safe!
