Festival Queens from Louisiana participated in the Louisiana Crawfish Pageant which was held at Lynn Oaks School in Caernarvon. St. Bernard Parish Tourism and Film Executive Director Katie Tommaseo led the tour with Parish Historian William Hyland.
Participants were guided along Terre-aux-Boeufs through the area where St. Bernard Parish began in the late 18th century. The highlight of the tour was visiting the seafood market held at the Delacroix Island Pier. Parish President Guy McInnis greeted the festival royalty and thanked them for visiting St. Bernard. The delegation also visited Los Islenos Museum Complex before returning to Lynn Oaks School. “Programs which grow maturity, responsibility, and pride in Louisiana are important to the development of our youth,” said Katie Tommaseo. “It was great to bring young ladies from many parts of Louisiana to experience the best St. Bernard has to offer,” said Parish President McInnis.
Katie Bigner was crowned the 2019 Miss Louisiana Crawfish Queen and Kristin Nash was crowned the 2019 Teen Louisiana Crawfish Queen. A special thanks to the St. Bernard Tourist Commission and the Louisiana Seafood Board for sponsoring the Queen’s lunch. The pageant is sponsored by the Louisiana Crawfish Festival.
