ATTENTION: RESIDENTS, COMMERCIAL & RECREATIONAL FISHERMEN

These reports should be called into the NOAA 24-hour marine mammal stranding hotline: 1-877-WHALE-HELP (1-877-942-5343).  Receiving this information as soon as possible allows the NOAA Stranding Network to recover the carcass and investigate the cause of stranding or death before the animal becomes too decomposed or to provide treatment to a live stranded dolphin needing rehabilitation.

They also generally ask that folks collect photos of the animal, record latitude/longitude, and provide a telephone contact so that we can follow up for additional information. The attached brochure outlines the general do's and don'ts for marine mammal strandings and methods of communication with NOAA:
