Duties & Responsibilities

The St. Bernard Urban Rapid Transit (SBURT) strives to provide timely, efficient, reliable and safe public transportation to the citizens of St. Bernard Parish. SBURT also provides Parish Assisted Evacuations during emergencies.

Rider Information

Arabi to Poydras Route

Arabi to Poydras route offers frequent trips between Arabi and Poydras for only $1. Service on the route operates Monday through Friday from 5:55 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. Passengers may board at any designated bus stop.

Route Deviations

Route Deviations passengers may request a deviation to any location that SBURT buses can legally traverse in the following seven areas during normal business hours: St. Bernard Hospital, Trist Middle School, J. F. Gauthier School, St. Bernard State Park, and Fanz Trailer Park. Due to road conditions, route deviations are not guaranteed and may be cancelled with little or no notice. Route deviation requests must be arranged with the transit department at least 24 hours in advance.

Elderly (60 Years and older), Disabled (E/D), & Medicare passengers

Elderly (60 Years and older), Disabled (E/D), and Medicare passengers may receive a 50% discount on fares. In order to receive the reduced fare, passengers must display a Medicare card with picture ID, or E/D Identification card. For more information, contact the SBURT office at 504-277-1907.

  • Scheduled Times Are Approximate 
  • Alternate Routes Are Used During Adverse Traffic Conditions 
  • No Eating or Drinking Allowed on SBURT Buses
