Coastal Department
MISSION
The Coastal Division will leverage resources and regulate coastal activities for the purpose of protecting, enhancing, and creating coastal assets in St. Bernard Parish
Vision
The Coastal Division will maintain a professional relationship with all coastal stakeholders, advocate for the implementation of coastal restoration practices and regulations that are based on the best available science, and faithfully represent the interests of St. Bernard Parish.
Office of Coastal Zone Management
The Office of Coastal Zone Management processes applications for Coastal Use Permits (CUPs) and serves as a liaison between St. Bernard Parish and all state and federal coastal wetlands regulatory agencies. All CUP applications received and processed by the office are advertised and publicly heard before Coastal Zone Advisory Committee (CZAC).
This department also serves as a liaison between St. Bernard Parish and all state and federal agencies such as: Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA), Coastal Protection Restoration Authority (CPRA), Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS), National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA), and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA).
