Sewer Expansion Projects currently underway in Meraux and Violet

Violet Sanitary Sewer System

St. Bernard Parish’s Water and Sewer Division is currently expanding the Violet Sanitary Sewer System. The expansion project includes installation of one new station on Allo Mumphrey and increasing the size of three current stations at 3rd and Repose, Highland Drive, and Livaccari. Currently the Munster Waste water treatment plant is receiving four times the flow during heavy rain events due to rain water infiltration. This project will increase capacity for the Meraux/Violet area and reduce rain water infiltration during heavy rain events. The expansion project will cost $5.3 Million Dollars and is funded by The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

Munster Sewer Treatment Plant Expansion

St. Bernard Parish’s Water and Sewer Division is currently expanding the Munster Sewer Treatment Plant. The Munster Expansion will add a larger Final Clarifier and RAS Pump, an effluent pump, a wash down station, telescopic valves, and a new front entrance to the plant. This project will be another water source to boost water pressure in the plant. The department is also adding an additional effluent pump at the Dravo Pump Station.
