Planning & Zoning Division
The Office of Planning and Zoning processes applications for zoning changes, zoning compliance letters, conditional uses, zoning variances, and new subdivisions. The Office also enforces the 2015 St. Bernard Parish Comprehensive Plan.
Safety & Permits Division
The Office of Safety and Permits processes applications and issues permits for both residential and commercial construction. The Office handles and schedules all building code inspections and oversees code compliance for the Parish.
Coastal Management Division
The Office of Coastal Zone Management processes applications for Coastal Use Permits (CUPs) and serves as a liaison between St. Bernard Parish and all state and federal coastal wetlands regulatory agencies. All CUP applications received and processed by the office are advertised and publicly heard before Coastal Zone Advisory Committee (CZAC).
This department also serves as a liaison between St. Bernard Parish and all state and federal agencies such as: Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA), Coastal Protection Restoration Authority (CPRA), Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS), National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA), and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA).
Parish-Owned Property Division
The Office of LLT (Louisiana Land Trust) lot management coordinates the maintenance and marketing of former LLT lots in accordance to the St. Bernard Parish Comprehensive Plan. The office manages and supervises the maintenance of non-LLT lots, both adjudicated and privately owned, for compliance with the grass cutting ordinances of St. Bernard Parish. The office also manages the grass cutting and maintenance of the neutral grounds on Judge Perez Dr. and the Hwy. 46 New Extension, from Angela Street in Arabi to Reggio.
The Department of Community Development, in partnership with Waggonner and Ball Architects, is excited to announce The Old Arabi Revitalization Plan! This plan is part of the Parish’s long-term recovery efforts for the neighborhood, which includes streetscape improvements on St. Claude Ave. and future improvements in the neighborhood (Phase 2).
