St. Bernard Parish Weather Update 8-24-17

St. Bernard Parish Officials are monitoring the tropics and are meeting daily in preparation for this event. The National Weather Service has upgraded Harvey to a Hurricane and predicts it will make landfill in Texas on Saturday. The main impacts to our area will be heavy rainfall with expected totals of 5 to 10 inches. The National Weather Service believes based upon current information that the storm will impact the Texas Coast, stall there for a few days, and begin a slow turn to the east and northeast pushing towards Louisiana by early next week.

Parish Employees have been out all week surveying the roads and cleaning storm drains. President McInnis will continue to meet daily with his Crisis Action Team to discuss the parish’s plan of action. Parish Officials are also conducting daily conference calls with the NWS. Daily updates will be provided until this event is over. The forecast could change so please stay tuned.
