St. Bernard Fire Officer Completes the US National Fire Academy

FTO Earl Borden

The student attends a two week class each year designed to enhance their professional development through a series of graduate and upper-division-baccalaureate equivalent courses taken over the four-year period. After each two week course they must complete an Applied Research Project (ARP) that relates to their training.

St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone said, “Only two percent of the elite in our Nation’s Fire Service attend classes at the National Fire Academy. We are extremely proud of Assistant Chief Borden. EFO designation is the Highest Honor a Fire Officer can obtain. I hope that more of our Officers follow in his footsteps."
