President McInnis addresses members of the Coastal Louisiana Levee Consortium in Baton Rouge

Parish President Guy McInnis addressed members of the Coastal Louisiana Levee Consortium at their meeting on September 28th. President McInnis spoke of the struggles of Lake Borgne Basin Levee District to maintain the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS). He stated that the HSDRRS System protects the areas of Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes but only St. Bernard Parish has the burden to maintain it. President McInnis asked board members to support him in his efforts to have the funding requirements spread out equally among the three parishes that benefit from the system.

The St. Bernard Parish Fire Department shall commence Fire Hydrant Inspections on Monday, October 10, 2016. Throughout the parish individual fire hydrants will be opened for approximately two minutes to record water pressure and flow readings. The inspections times will be between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. This is a necessary procedure performed twice a year, to ensure that all fire hydrants in the parish work properly. Residents may experience rusty water during this testing.
