PARDON OUR PROGRESS!
Parish saves monies by doing work in-house

St. Bernard Parish Government has crews from one end of the parish to the other working on a number of projects including repairing broken water lines, pouring cement and replacing drainage pumps.

Road Department crews are throughout the parish replacing sidewalks and driveway aprons. The Water and Sewer crews are repairing drainage pumps and fire hydrants. These repairs will save the parish monies by doing the jobs in-house.

The parish appreciates the patience of its residents and businesses and apologizes for any inconvenience the work may cause.

ST. BERNARD PARISH LIBRARY RECEIVES ARTS FUNDING

The St. Bernard Parish Library is proud to announce that it has a received a $2,000.00 Decentralized Arts Fund grant that will help the library bring a variety of artistic performances to area residents. The DAF Grant is designed to promote the arts throughout our state with the help of the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Louisiana State Arts Council and is administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs.

The library also received additional donations to help cover the full costs of the library’s programming making the Saturday with the Arts school year programming and the Fridays with the Arts summer reading presentations true community events. Wayne and Arlette Nunez, of St. Bernard, made a generous donation of $500.00 in memory of Ms. Arlin “Nana” Johnson who regularly participated in library events with her grandchildren. Ms. Nunez also submitted the St. Bernard Parish Library to Shell Oil Company’s HERO (Helping Employees Reach Out) Program and as a result, Shell Oil has matched her donation.

Also supporting the library for the fourth year with a $700.00 contribution to be used for the library’s youngest patrons is the Lemonade Day Entrepreneurs of St. Bernard. Their continued support has been used in a variety of ways that benefit all of the children who visit the library. This year their donation, when combined with the DAF grant and Nunez/Shell donations, will help to ensure that the libraries seven special guest performances are fully funded as well as to purchase updates for the Children’s Only computers so that the library’s youngest computer users can enjoy a ‘tablet-like experience’ using touchscreens while continuing to learn and have fun.

All of the programming the library offers is free of charge and open to the public. Residents of St. Bernard as well as the surrounding areas are invited to attend any of the events held throughout the year. Information about upcoming events is posted on the library’s website at www.mysbpl.org and on the library’s Facebook page.

The St. Bernard Parish Library is extremely grateful for the support it has received for its family events and will strive to continue offering a broad range of artistic venues such as interactive theater, puppetry, music, storytelling and more for all to enjoy.
