St. Bernard Parish President Starts Employee Wellness Program
Health Screenings Offered to Employees and Families of All Governmental Entities in St. Bernard on June 24

As part of an ongoing commitment to his employees, St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. will kick off a Wellness Program Tuesday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rowley School Cafeteria, 49 Madison Ave. in Chalmette with free health screenings offered to all employees.

The St. Bernard Parish Government will be partnering with its employees to help them along their wellness journey. The campaign focuses on prevention, healthy lifestyles and weight management not only to improve quality of life and reach wellness goals but to maintain them permanently. Various campaigns, events and educational information will be featured to give the employees the tools and incentives to increase their physical and mental health while reducing healthcare cost.

There will be a variety of sponsors at the wellness day and more than 20 booths.  Local businesses willing to promote health and wellness are invited to participate and should contact the president’s office at 278-4227.

resident Taffaro encourages everyone in the community to begin taking proactive steps to improve their health and invites the employees of all governmental agencies in St. Bernard Parish and their families to this event to help educate and raise health awareness.

The employees will complete a confidential baseline assessment to include a United Healthcare wellness survey, on-site cholesterol, glucose, body fat, weight, blood pressure as well as several other screenings.

The aim of this program is to help individuals make sustainable lifestyle changes.  The vision is that the program will evolve each month and build on the previous month. Progress will be measured in physical improvements and also how participants feel overall.
