Youth camping
organization to offer volunteer help
Volunteers from
Passport Inc., a nonprofit youth camping organization, will
spend three weeks in the New Orleans area in June and July.
These volunteers, ages 12-18, are hoping to take on a variety of
community service projects to help local residents, including
yard work, painting and cleaning. They are able to use power
tools, operate kitchen equipment, and use lawnmowers and weed
eaters.
Working in a group of about 30, including adult supervisors, the
volunteer crews are available between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
on June 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 and July 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9.
To schedule a crew, please call the Community Center of St
Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St, Arabi, at 504-281-2512. Residents who
are unable to use an entire crew of 30 volunteers are encouraged
to talk with friends and neighbors to arrange a community- or
block-cleanup effort.
