VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED JUNE 8 FOR CLEAN UP AT HANNAN HIGH
Former high school to be used for a youth
recreational football-soccer complex
The St. Bernard Parish Recreation Department together with the
St. Bernard Recreation Corporation will hold another volunteer
day on Sunday, June 8 at the former Archbishop Hannan High
School.
The goal of this volunteer day is to build three football/soccer
fields for the upcoming 2008 football season. Volunteers are
needed all day starting bright and early at 8 a.m. The following
pieces of equipment are needed for this day: Bob Cat, Ditch
Witch, riding and push lawnmowers, weed eaters, chain saws,
shovels, rakes, wheel barrows, brooms and dust pans.
The site is under lease and will be operated by the St. Bernard
Recreation Department and will be used for soccer and football
this fall.
This project consists of clearing trees, cutting grass,
spreading mud, building an irrigation system, and planting
seeds. In order to get these fields up and running in time for
children to play football and soccer this fall, the help of many
volunteers and equipment is needed for this effort.
Sabrina Scharfenstein with the St. Bernard Recreation Corp. is
coordinating volunteers and equipment. If you can donate your
time or any of the equipment, please contact her at (504)
583-6000 or via e-mail at sscharfenstein32@yahoo.com.
Refreshments will be served.
Please call the Recreation Office at (504) 278-4295 for more
information.
